Creating and Managing Change History Entries for Test Data Containers

Context

The change history for test data containers (TDC) helps you to store your TDC data securely and find it again easily. Before the history was set up, it was possible to keep an old status by exporting data as an XML, but you can now use the history to select and restore a particular status.

Procedure

  1. Creating a history entry

You can create an entry directly from the TDC display or from the change history:

To create a history entry directly from the TDC display, open the relevant TDC and choose Start of the navigation pathUtilities Next navigation step Change History Next navigation step Create EntryEnd of the navigation path. In the field that appears, enter a description that will help you find the entry again later on, and confirm your entries. An entry is created for the current status of your TDC in the change history.

You can also open the history administration first by choosing Start of the navigation pathUtilities Next navigation step Change History Next navigation step AdministrationEnd of the navigation path, and then create a new entry by choosing Start of the navigation pathHistory Entry Next navigation step Create EntryEnd of the navigation path.

  2. Managing history entries

In the history administration (Start of the navigation pathUtilities Next navigation step Change History Next navigation step AdministrationEnd of the navigation path), you can see the current object as well as a list of all other entries together with information about who created them and when.

You can use the option History Administration to create new entries, display or export the XML for selected entries, or restore the version-specific values of an entry. During a restore operation, a backup is automatically created for the current data before the current object is overwritten.
