Set Up Logging Configurations
Once you have determined the basic settings for application logging, you can set up logging configurations.
Logging configurations specify the conditions under which an activity to an electronic patient record (medical record) object is logged within the framework of application logging.
Only an active configuration in an active logging profile will result in the logging of activities. The logging configuration is often a combination of application events and filter conditions relating to the logging application.
Example
Clinical orders logging application:
Event: Displayed
Filter: Urological surgery order type
When you create new logging configurations, you must specify an institution. In these institution-related configurations you can therefore take into account application-related customizing.
For each logging configuration you can activate application-specific events and define relevant filter criteria. You can use problem classes and degrees of detail to structure the application logging log.
Note
You can use a logging configuration in one or more logging profiles.
In the implementation guide
select .
The Change Logging Definitions
screen appears (transaction N1ALDEF
).
Select the Logging Configurations
pushbutton at the lower edge of the navigation area, to access the function for editing configurations.
In the navigation area select a logging application (e.g. clinical order) or one of the configuration groups created below.
Note
Configuration groups are used to clearly structure the logging applications of an application in the navigational area in the setup function for application logging (Change Logging Definition
screen).
You can also create a new configuration group for a logging application by selecting the logging application and, in the selection list for
Configuration
(Create Configuration
), selecting the Create Group
function. You access the Create Configuration Group
dialog box. Enter the name of the new configuration group.
Choose
Configuration
(Create Configuration
).
You access the Create Configuration dialog box.
Enter the necessary data, e.g. institution and name of configuration and select
(Continue
).
In the work area enter the data required for the new logging configuration.
You can use the problem class to group messages according to importance. You can use the degree of detail to equip messages for events with a specific level of detail.
Messages triggered by the relevant event (e.g. print document) receive this problem class and degree of detail, so that you can quickly find the messages important to you during an evaluation with a great number of messages (by filtering, sorting, etc.).
In the Filter Values
group frame you can set filters for the logging of events.
Example
The system should only log events relating to clinical orders which are addressed to a specific order filler.
Select
(Check
) or save the configuration.
Select
(Activate Configuration
), to activate the configuration and to use it for application logging.
Within the framework of application logging you wish to log when and by whom specific findings (parameterized document) were changed, which are assigned to a specific employee responsible.
