Data Protection in Product Compliance

Data protection is associated with numerous legal requirements and privacy concerns. In addition to compliance with general data privacy regulation, it is necessary to consider compliance with industry-specific legislation in different countries. SAP provides specific features and functions to support compliance with regard to relevant legal requirements, including data protection.

Component extension for SAP EHS Management provides End of Purpose (EoP) checks as methods of identifying the point in time for a data when the processing of personal data is no longer required for the primary business purpose. An end of purpose check determines the applicability of data for business activities, depending on the data retention period. The data availability may be required due to retention requirements, even after it is no longer actively used for primary business processes. The retained data is blocked, so that it can only be displayed by users with special authorization. This authorization however, does not allow modification of the data.

For more information about End of Purpose checks, see the Security Guide of the component extension for SAP EHS Management on the SAP Help Portal at http://help.sap.com/EHS-comp.
