Use this app to configure link types that can be used when users connect business objects within SAP Integrated Product Development. It gives you a flexible and reusable approach to linking business objects, which is beneficial for maintaining efficient and scalable business processes.

Key Features

This app lets you do the following:

  • Create and maintain link types that can be used to create connections between different business objects.

  • Customize object links that can be used for different business needs.

  • Configure link types that can be used to link business objects in the consuming SaaS applications of SAP Integrated Product Development.

Use

Define link types so that business objects can be connected by the users.

Note

Link types in use can't be deleted.

Use

You can change specific configuration details of the existing link types.

Use

You can create a new link type with the required settings.

Use

You can delete the selected link type if it's no longer needed.

Note Link types in use can't be deleted.
Use

Use the Search bar to find a link type that has already been created.

Use

Use the link direction to indicate whether the link type is directed or undirected.

Links between business objects can be one of the following:

  • Directed: the link differs depending on which direction it's used. For example:

    • Object A is a 'parent of' Object B, while Object B is a 'child of' Object A.

    • Object A 'packages' Object B, while Object B 'is packaged in' Object A.

    • Object A is a 'successor of' Object B, while Object B is a 'predecessor of' Object A.

    • Object A 'implements' Object B, while Object B 'is implemented by' Object A.

  • Undirected: the link is neutral, which means that the connections between the business objects are the same from both sides. For example:
    • Object A 'relates to' Object B.

    • Object A is 'an alternative of' Object B.

Use

Define link types how business objects can be connected by the users.

  • Object A 'relates to' Object B.

  • Object A is 'an alternative of' Object B.

Note

Link types in use can't be deleted.

Use

Define the object type of the first business object link, for example, product.

Use

Define the object type of the second business object link, for example, product.

Use

A relationship type that represents the opposite direction of a directed link between two business objects. It describes the same connection viewed from the target back to the source.

For example, the following link types are inverses of each other:

  • Child of - Parent of

  • Successor - Predecessor

  • Packages - Is packaged by

  • Implements - Is implemented by

Note

This doesn't apply to undirected links.

Use

Show how records are related to each other and at the same time define how often an instance of a business object can be part of a link of the given link type.

For example:

  • One : One

  • One : Many

  • Many : Many

Use

Show whether a link type is used by any of the consuming SaaS applications.

The two possible options: Yes or No

Note

Link types in use can't be deleted.

Use

Shows whether the defined link type is active, which means that this link type can be used in the consuming SaaS applications.
