Use of /Metadata to Request a List of Selection Fields and Attributes

You can use the /metadata endpoint of the Analytical Reporting - View Management API to request a list of all filter and selection fields, either for a single fact/dimension type or for all fact/dimension types, that can be used to create custom view templates.

To request a list of selection fields and attributes for a particular fact, create a query according to the following model:

{{runtime_url}}/metadata?realm=myRealm&documentType={fact_or_dimension_name}&product=analytics

The query response is returned in JSON format, and it includes a list of all selection attributes, a list of all filter attributes, and the specified fact/dimension type. For each returned field, the response specifies its name and data type. For string fields, it includes the maximum length of the string in characters. For fields that accept only specific values, permissible values are specified in the AllowedValues section.
