Synchronization Unit
The synchronization unit establishes the connection between the source and target structure you want to synchronize.
It contains all planning data for creating a target structure if none exists.
The synchronization unit can have the following status which is assigned by the system:
New
You have created and saved the synchronization unit. You cannot change the access control context anymore after that. The target structure does not exist yet or you have not yet carried out the synchronization.
Aligned
You have carried out the synchronization. The source and target structures match.
Not aligned
You have carried out the synchronization. Since you have changed the source structure, there are differences between the source and target structures.
Failed
You have started the synchronization. The system has not finished the synchronization, however, because serious errors have occurred (see Conflict Handling).
Obsolete
The synchronization unit is no longer taken into account.
Note
You can set this status in synchronization planning under Additional Functions
. You can only delete a synchronization unit if it has this status if a target structure already exists. As long as the target structure does not exist (status New
), you can delete the synchronization unit without the system setting the status to Obsolete
.
You can reset the status Obsolete
by choosing
(see Definition of a Synchronization Unit (BOM to BOM)).
Not Saved
The synchronization unit has not yet been saved. You can still change the access control context.
The synchronization unit contains all synchronization parameters that control the synchronization of structures (see Definition of a Synchronization Unit).
The system uses synchronization parameters to determine change states of source structures that should be synchronized as well as properties of the target structure.
You can create, copy, or delete synchronization units on the PLM Web UI for planning a synchronization of structures.
