Synchronizing an Engineering BOM with a Manufacturing BOM
When you synchronize
an engineering BOM with a manufacturing BOM, you can transfer material BOMs from engineering to material BOMs in manufacturing and pass on engineering data to manufacturing.
If you have not performed a synchronization yet, the system creates a new manufacturing BOM by copying the engineering BOM (source structure) to the manufacturing BOM (target structure).
You can perform more synchronizations. The system updates the existing manufacturing BOM:

The system manages changes to the engineering and manufacturing BOMs with change management (see Mapping Source Change Numbers to Target Change Numbers).
Guided Structure Synchronization also considers change states without change numbers (see Synchronization Planning).
The goal is to transfer the changes made to the engineering BOM to the manufacturing BOM to keep both of them synchronized.

Mapping of Source Change Numbers to Target Change Numbers |
The system reads all the change numbers of the engineering BOM and displays them. You can map source change numbers to target change numbers. The system saves and manages the mapping of the source and target change numbers (see Mapping Source Change Numbers to Target Change Numbers). During synchronization, the system takes the level of maturity of the engineering BOM's change state into account (see Change Number on the Web UI).

Reconciliation and resolving conflicts |
The system monitors changes made to engineering BOMs and automatically runs a reconciliation. The system compares the engineering BOM with the manufacturing BOM and displays conflicts and then proposes solutions to the conflicts. You can perform corresponding actions for them (see Reconciliation Workbench). |
