Editing Process Instructions on the Characteristic Overview

Use

You can use this procedure to maintain characteristic-based process instructions on the characteristic overview.

You can also use the characteristic-based process instruction assistant to maintain process instructions for the PI sheet that are not of type 0, Universal process instruction category ( see Maintaining Process Instructions in the PI Assistant ). The process instruction assistant facilitates process instruction maintenance by providing specific selection screens and prompts that guide you through the definition procedure. In this case, the system creates the characteristic structure that you must otherwise maintain yourself on the characteristic overview.

You can maintain process control data in the form of XSteps. To do this you can use the XStep editor ( XSteps). For more information, see XSteps .

Prerequisites

Process instruction categories defining the function and contents of your process instructions have been maintained in Customizing for Process Management .

Note Note

If you have made the corresponding Customizing settings for the control recipe destination, specific process instructions are automatically inserted when a control recipe is created. You need not create these process instructions in the master recipe; refer to Automatic Process Instruction Creation .

Procedure

  1. On the operation overview, select the phase for which you want to maintain the process instruction.

  2. Choose .

  3. Enter the data on the process instruction overview, and choose .

    The characteristic assignments of the process instruction category you have entered are copied to the master recipe.

  4. Double-click the process instruction.

    The PI characteristic overview appears.

  5. Delete or add characteristic assignments on the characteristic overview, if required (refer to Deleting Characteristic Assignments to Process Instructions ).

    You can obtain information on the function and usage of characteristics in the following places:

    • For standard characteristics having a special function in the PI sheet, in the field help of the characteristic value field

    • In section Process Instruction Structure

      Note Note

      Default numbers may be displayed for the characteristic according to the increment in the recipe profile. Change the recipe profile, if required (see Changing Recipe Profiles in Recipes ).

  6. Enter characteristic values specific to the recipe on the characteristic overview.

    Note Note

    Some characteristic values can be entered automatically in the process order if no value has been assigned yet. The A indicator is set for these characteristics on the characteristic overview. Display the input help for this indicator to obtain information on the value assignment logic.

  7. If required, enter a long text for the long text characteristics (see Assigning Long Texts to Process Instruction Characteristics ).

    The L indicator is set for these characteristics on the characteristic overview.
