Request

Definition

In a technical sense, a request is an interface, which represents a summarized view of several FI documents. Therefore, only FI documents are stored on the database. The request does not represent an object in itself. When processing requests, the program generates the respective desired view of their FI documents.

Use

Requests cover the following cases:

  • Single requests

They contain a single FI document. An FI document, containing a request number in the document header, is stored in the system.

  • Collective requests

When entering or changing a request, it is also possible to generate several FI documents with the same transaction. All documents of a request are grouped together under a request number. The request number is stored in the document header of every individual FI document. The request number is clear for each company code. The common request number guarantees that the grouped-together FI documents show a common document, posting and conversion date, as well as identical document currencies and exchange rates.

Structure

A request groups together one or several parked FI documents under one request number (also: lot number). So, for a single request, two numbers exist in the system: The request number and the number of the FI document contained in the request. For a collective request, several FI documents are grouped together in the system under one request number.

Below is an example of the structure of a collective request:

Integration

In a request, you can also refer to earmarked funds. For information about earmarked funds, see Earmarked Funds- Document.

For information on FI documents, see Document.
