Budget Structure: Consistency Check/Reconstruction

Use

The derivations between the posting and budget addresses that you have defined are saved by the system as index entries in the database. If you then make changes to existing account assignment derivations, inconsistencies can result from this. This is always the case if the assignments stored in the database do not match the changed account assignment derivation.

For this reason, it is recommended that you carry out a consistency check every time you change the account assignment derivation. You carry out this check using the program Display Inconsistencies in Index .

If inconsistencies in the index are listed, it is necessary to reconstruct the budget structure in accordance with the new account assignment derivation strategy. During the reconstruction of the budget structure, the index entries stored in the database are updated in accordance with the new strategy. You use the program Reconstruction for this.

Activities

You carry out the check for inconsistencies in the index and the reconstruction of the budget structure in the Funds Management menu under Start of the navigation path Master Data Next navigation step Tools Next navigation step Use of Account Assignment Elements Next navigation step Budget Control System (BCS) Next navigation step Budget Structure Next navigation step Index Next navigation step Display Inconsistencies or Reconstruct End of the navigation path .

For more information, see the relevant program documentation.

Note Note

If you use the rules for validating the addresses, note that the reconstruction does not remove any objects. Instead, the reconstruction run reports errors for invalid objects. You must, however, delete these manually.

End of the note.
