Posting Address

Definition

Funds Management account assignment (FM account assignment) used for the posting of actuals and commitments in the budget control system. A posting address is an element of the budget structure.

Use

You define which account assignments are intended for actual and commitment postings from all possible FM account assignments of a FM area. In this way, you can regulate the availability of budget in your organization using posting addresses. In addition to the FM account assignment elements of Funds Management, posting addresses are regarded as additional master data. A posting address can simultaneously be a budget address.

Posting addresses are managed in the FM area/fiscal year per budget category and posting ledger without the entry of a budget structure key. Posting addresses are year-dependent and must be created again for each fiscal year. The existing posting addresses of the previous year can be copied to the following year using a copy program .

For each actual/commitment posting that you make in a FM area/fiscal year, the system checks whether the FM account assignment entered is defined as a posting address. You can activate/deactivate the posting address check for exceptional situations in Customizing by setting/removing the indicator Posting Address Check .

Note Note

It is not advisable to deactivate this check if you work with posting addresses.
