Copying Multi-Level Budget Structures

Use

The generation of multi-level budget structures is a time-consuming operation. So that you do not have to generate a brand new structure from scratch every time you need one, the solution includes a function enabling you to create a new structure by copying an existing one. You can then change the new multi-level budget structure as required.

With this program (transaction FMHIE_ COPY ) you can copy a multi-level budget structure or part of it from a source hierarchy ID, budget structure, fiscal year and budget category to a target hierarchy ID, budget structure, fiscal year and budget category within an FM area in Budget Control System (BCS) budgeting.

You need to enter the hierarchy ID even if no Funds Management account assignment element has the ‘constant’ role for the given FM area and source or target budget structure (in which case there is only one hierarchy ID).

Prerequisites

You have generated a multi-level budget structure for a hierarchy ID, FM area, fiscal year, budget category and budget structure (transaction FMHIE_GENERATION), or you have previously copied a multi-level budget structure.

Procedure

  3. Enter the FM area and a multi-level budget structure.

  4. Enter the source fiscal year, the budget category and, if necessary, the source hierarchy ID.

    Restriction on multi-level budget structure: you can restrict the selection of the source multi-level budget structure by entering the access objects into the structure with a list and the number of steps below the access objects.

    Note Note

    If two or more selected branches (combination of an access object and number of steps) are on the same branch of the structure, the entire branch containing all the selected branches without gaps is selected for copying.

  5. Enter the target fiscal year, the budget category and, if necessary, the target hierarchy ID.

  6. Check Test Run if you want to simulate the results in a test run before actually running the transaction.

  7. If necessary, select a Layout Variant to be used when you display the copied multi-level budget structure.

  8. Execute the transaction.

Result

A log is output after you run this program. If errors occurred during copying, you can click the Message Logbutton to see the detailed error report, or you can click the Display Hierarchybutton to display the copied multi-level budget structure.
