Setting Up Your Own File Path for Workbooks
You can define the file path for downloading and saving Microsoft Excel workbooks when you open templates or favorites.
Context
When you open a planning view favorite or template, the workbook is downloaded from the SAP IBP back end and copied to a certain folder. From there, it is opened on your PC. This file path determines the storage location. For performance considerations, it is recommended that you specify a file path pointing to a folder on your local PC, instead of a folder stored on a network drive or shared drive.
As of the 2205.2.0 version of the Excel add-in, the default file path is %Temp%\SAP_IBP. Your administrator can change the default file path to a different location. For more information, see Setting Up File Paths for Workbooks.
To define your own file path, proceed as follows:
Procedure
- In the About group of the SAP IBP ribbon, choose
Settings
User Settings
. - In the General Settings section, in the File Path for Workbooks field, specify the folder or file path you want to use. By clicking the … (Browse for Folder) button next to the File Path for Workbooks field, you can browse for the folder.
If the specified file path doesn’t exist, the Excel add-in tries to create it. If the path isn't valid or available on your computer, or can’t be accessed, an error message is displayed when you choose OK.
If you would like to use the default folder again, choose Reset to Default.
Resetting the user settings updates the file path for the planning area to the one specified by the administrator, or if there was no file path set, then the default %Temp%\SAP_IBP folder is used. You can check the actual file location of the open workbook in the Microsoft Excel menu, under
