Locked or Unlocked |
The Locked flag indicates that no further changes can be made to the product and the product version is recorded in the system. If an update is received from SAP S/4HANA systems and all product versions are locked, then a new version is created with an incremented minor version. For example: version 1.0, version 1.1, and so on. For more information, see Product Versioning. The Unlocked flag indicates that you can make updates to the product version without creating a new product or minor version. |
Navigation to Product screen |
All the product display IDs are links that take you to the Product screen. Select the product display ID that is in the Components column to open the Product window and choose Go to Product Page to go to the Product screen. For more information, see Viewing Product Details. |

Create ERP Products |
Create multiple products in the default source system (ERP system). The early product that exists in SAP Integrated Product Development can be created in the source system using the Create ERP Product button. When you explode a BOM or product structure, the Create ERP Product button lets you create all the early products in the structure in the source system with one click. The source system that has been set as the default source system by your administrator in the Configure Product Structure app, is used. Similarly, the base UoM (Unit of Measure), industry, and product type that has been set by your administrator in the Configure Product Structure app is used to create the product. Once the product has been successfully created in the source system, it's no longer an early product and the product ID is changed to a new ID. The structure tree view is refreshed to display the new ERP product IDs in the hierarchy |
Variant |
Select a product variant to view its product structure. When you select a product variant from the drop-down list, the product structure auto refreshes to display its product structure. If none of the product variants are selected, all the components of all the variants are displayed. |
Baseline |
Select a baseline that has been created for that BOM or product version. The Baseline options also include descriptions so that you can select the right baseline. A baseline is a fixed snapshot that describes a product at a specific point in time in its entire end-to-end lifecycle. They can be created in the Configuration Management capability of SAP Integrated Product Development.
You can choose from the following two baseline options:
For more details, see Working with Structure Explosion. |
Selected Date |
Select a date and view all the products versions that are valid on the selected date and after. |
Explosion Parameters |
Select the parameters to create an exploded view of the product structure. You can choose to view different variations of a structure by defining the variant parameters of a variant parameter group assigned to the product. Additionally, you can include other parameters like BOM usage, plant, and date to narrow down to a specific product structure explosion. |
Manage Visibility |
Hide components of a product structure. The Manage Visibility option lets you control the visibility of nodes in a product structure. You can hide a node if it doesn't seem relevant to your view of the structure and then also make it visible when required. |
3D |
Open the viewport where you can view 3D model of the exploded product structure. The 3D option lets you dynamically generate a 3D model from the BOM explosion for visual navigation of the BOM in the 3D model. For more details, see Viewing a 3D model. |
View thumbnails next to the BOM components in a product structure. You can use this option to add an additional column in the product structure table that displays the thumbnails. If a BOM component doesn't have an image set to display as a thumbnail, then the thumbnail icon is displayed. Choose the icon to set a thumbnail. For more details, see Setting a Thumbnail. |
Search for a component within the exploded structure. Choose the Find in Structure option to open the value help dialog where you can enter keywords, product ID, or description to search for components in the structure. The search results display the number of instances of the component in the structure. You can use the up and down option to navigate through the results in the structure. If a component is hidden using the Manage Visibility option, the search results don't display those hidden components. |
