Hybrid Specification Management

Specification Management supports collaboration based on specification data in a hybrid environment with SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition and SAP Integrated Product Development. With the help of this functionality, you can load and transfer specification values between SAP S/4HANA and SAP Integrated Product Development for collaboration.

The following video explains the scenario and how it can be leveraged:

One of the key use cases is when a product developer wants to collaborate with suppliers on specifications but still keep their specification database in the SAP S/4HANA system. The following image explains how data starts from and remains in the system during hybrid specification management:

The product developer loads values from the SAP S/4HANA system to a specification in SAP Integrated Product Development, creates a specification request, then invites suppliers to Collaboration rooms and attaches the request there. Suppliers can directly create their offers in the system, and the product developer can compare these offers. After the best specification is chosen, values can be transferred back to the SAP S/4HANA sytem.

Your administrator needs to perform configuration steps to enable the hybrid scenario, see Integrating with SAP S/4HANA Specification Management.
