Operational Protection

Use

Protection that ensures that a technical object that is managed as an item in an Operational WCD can only be switched from certain Operational WCDs .

After an operational protection has been set, switching is only possible from those Operational WCDs that are linked together directly by the superior work clearance applications . These Operational WCDs then form a protected area.

Note Note

The operational protection can be used to protect the temporary untagging of an item of the Operational WCD against other Operational WCDs for test purposes.

Prerequisites

  • The Operational WCDs with technical objects to be protected are linked to one another using work clearance applications.

  • The technical objects that should be protected are managed as items in the Operational WCDs that are linked to one another.

    Note Note

The operational protection always refers to the technical object and its assigned operational group.

Features

The operational protection can be used to create protected areas. A protected area is defined using the following criteria:

  • Operational protection of items in Operational WCDs that represent technical objects

  • Direct linking of Operational WCDs using superior work clearance applications

A technical object can be switched within the protected area. However, it is not possible to switch the technical object outside of the protected area.

Note Note

To support you, the protected area is displayed graphically on both the maintenance screen and the switching screen of the Operational WCD as follows:

  • An operational protection is set, but the item is outside the protected area and cannot, therefore, be switched.

  • An operational protection is set, and the item is inside the protected area and can, therefore, be switched.

End of the note.

Example

The protected areas arise through the operational protection of items 1, 2, and 3 (that is, the technical objects A100, A200, and A300) in the Operational WCDs 201, 202, and 203.

The technical object A100 can be switched within the protected area in the Operational WCDs 201 and 202. However, this technical object cannot be switched in the Operational WCD 203, as it is outside the protected area.

The technical object A200 can be switched within the protected area in the Operational WCDs 201, 202, and 203.

The technical object A300 can be switched within the protected area in the Operational WCDs 202 and 203. However, this technical object cannot be switched in the Operational WCD 201, as it is outside the protected area.

No operational protection is set for the technical object A400. This means that no protected area was defined. Therefore, there are no restrictions for switching this technical object.

Note Note

This is a simplified example, in which the same operational group is assumed.
