This document defines the functional scope of SAP Rapid Application Development by Mendix.

Further restrictions may apply based on your license agreement with SAP. Functions and capabilities described in the documentation of this product may exceed the functional scope of the product to explain the integration with other SAP products, which must be licensed separately.

What can you do?

The development platform combines the visual and collaboration tools of Mendix with SAP themes, connectors, and modules so you can build SAP business apps:

SAP Rapid Application Development by Mendix is designed to enable you to:
  • Extend existing SAP systems with custom applications and use all the cloud services available on SAP BTP.
  • Quickly build apps to increase customer engagement.
  • Quickly build apps to improve operational efficiency.

What do you get?

SAP Rapid Application Development provides the Mendix Studio Pro, development portal, and app store with the following additions:

  • SAP Templates, which provide starter apps with SAP Fiori themes, SAP connectors already built in, as well as basic user interfaces.

  • SAP connectors and modules, which let you connect and consume data from SAP services on different SAP products (like SAP S/4HANA), or let you map SAP entity data models to your application.

  • SAP Fiori page templates, which can give your apps the SAP Fiori layouts and SAP Fiori look and feel.

Description

SAP Starter App

Creates an empty SAP app so you can start from scratch with Mendix Studio Pro, drag and drop widgets onto pages, and use the included out-of-the-box SAP Fiori theme.

SAP Northwind OData App

Creates an SAP Fiori master-detail app with a list of products based on the Northwind OData service.

SAP Purchase Order Approval App

Creates an SAP Fiori master detail app based on the SAP demo Gateway service (ES5). The app lets users view purchase orders and approve them.

Once you have set up your environment on the Mendix portal, you can deploy directly to SAP BTP, Cloud Foundry environment directly from the Mendix Studio Pro or the Mendix development portal, by creating an environment and providing SAP BTP, Cloud Foundry environment credentials.
