Space Management (LO-MD-RA)

Use

In the standard system, you can define the physical location of articles in retail or customer sites by using site layouts. Site layout modules are used in site layouts. Modules represent a standard shelf in a store and a grouping of articles.

The actual assignment of articles takes place, of course, in the retailers site and can be supported by a local space management program. This type of program is PC-based and must be provided with layout data.

If the configuration of a site layout module or important properties of the articles contained therein are changed, any changes must be communicated to the space management program so that a new optimization run containing the changed data can be run.

Report RWREGPRO can be used to supply the space management programs with data. This report first displays the site for the site layout module before it can then be exported to the space management program.

Procedure

It is recommended that all site layout modules are checked manually at regular intervals to ensure that no changes go unnoticed before data is then exported to the space management program.

Changes can be determined automatically by the system and specific associates are placed in charge of space management using a workflow for this purpose.

A workflow is not started for every individual change in site layout modules when SAP Business Workflow is used. Changes are analyzed when a new assortment list is generated for a retail site, meaning that this is done at a time when the retail site is supplied with new assortment data.

Note Note

The assortment list triggers workitems for the workflow if it is generated for the reference stores for the relevant layout modules.

End of the note.

Assortment lists are generated on a regular basis to provide stores with data. Only change versions of the assortment list are assigned sent to the stores.

If changes in an assortment list are recognized during generation, workflows for space management are started for the site layout modules used in the assortment list and for changes.

An individual workflow is triggered for each assortment list (meaning for each version) and each of the changed site layout modules. The workflow generates a workitem used by the correct associate to decide if space management is to be run directly or only after the layout data has actually been displayed.

Note Note

The basis for space management is the data for the reference store. This data is entered in the site layout module.

End of the note.

An additional workitem is generated for associates who choose to use an alternative. This workitem enables the user to process the alternative space management run.

When this is complete, a workitem is generated with which the associate can decide if space management was run successfully or if it must be run again.

If the associate decides to process an additional space management run, the workflow is passed on when the first user decision is required. If this is not the case, the workflow is completed.
