Visualization of Technical Objects in the Master Data
On the SAP Web UI for Plant Maintenance and in the corresponding SAP GUI transactions, you can use the SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer to display graphics of technical objects right in the master data.
If you use the SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer on the SAP Web UI for Plant Maintenance to visualize technical objects, activate the business function Integration with SAP 3D Visual Enterprise
(LOG_EAM_VE_INT
). With this business function SAP delivers the Document Management
Customizing settings listed below as standard settings.
As of enhancement package 6 for SAP ERP 6.0 SP07 (SAP_APPL 606), you can also use the integrated SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer in the corresponding SAP GUI transactions. In Customizing for Plant Maintenance and Customer Service
under , activate the parameter SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Integration in SAP GUI
(VE_INT_GUI
).
Even if you only use the integrated SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer in SAP GUI transactions, we nevertheless recommend that you activate the business function LOG_EAM_VE_INT
. If you do not activate this business function, you must make the following Customizing settings for Document Management
manually in Customizing for Cross-Application Components
:
Define the document type SP
with the appropriate object links under .
Under , assign the viewing application Spare Part
and the workstation application RH
for the usage PM
to the object links of the SAP objects EQUI
(Equipment
), IFLOT
(Functional Location
), and MARA
(Material Master
) with document type SP
.
For more information about document types, see SAP Library on SAP Help Portal at http://help.sap.com/erp
. Choose SAP ERP Central Component
, select a release and then choose Application Help
. In SAP Library, choose .
For further requirements, see SAP Note 1821916
.
In the master data of a technical object, you can display a 2D image or 3D scene of the object.
Note
The system first looks for document info records that are directly assigned to the piece of equipment or functional location. If it does not find a valid document assignment, the system checks if a corresponding document info record has been assigned to the construction type of the piece of equipment or functional location. If there is more than one version of a document, the system displays the most current version. If a technical object has been assigned more than one document with the same rank in your Customizing settings, the system chooses one at random and displays it. The RH file stored in the document can only be displayed if it has been checked in.
If the technical object is assigned a document info record with more than one RH file, the system randomly displays one of the RH files. We therefore recommend that you assign each document info record just one file with the workstation application RH
.
If an appropriate document is assigned to the piece of equipment or functional location, the system shows the Display Spare Parts
pushbutton. By choosing this pushbutton you open the RH file. In the 3D scenes, you can use the various display functions provided by the SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer. For example, you can pull the visualized model apart or rotate it, display a detailed view or a cross-section, as well as display associated parts lists.
You can check which documents you assigned to a piece of equipment or functional location on the PM Web UI on the Documents
tab page and in the SAP GUI transactions by choosing the
(Document
) pushbutton next to the Description
field.
You can have a thumbnail of a technical object displayed in the master data. The thumbnail appears on the General Data
tab page.
For information about the required Customizing settings, see Settings for Thumbnails and for Converting Image Formats.
