Pick-Up and Drop-Off Point

Definition

A pick-up and drop-off point (P&D) is a node representing a point in the warehouse where goods can be stored temporarily to support the continuous flow of materials.

You can define P&Ds either when one resource type cannot execute the full movement, or to serve managerial goals.

Example

In the case of a putaway on to a high-rack storage type, the pallet jack first moves the goods to a pick-up and drop-off point, from where the turret-truck takes the goods and places them in the final destination bin.
