Working with Explorer content

When you open an Explorer document, you navigate through information spaces and exploration views. Both types of document allow to identify trends in your data and quickly retrieve answers to your business questions on your iPad or iPhone.

Select an Explorer document and then add dimensions and measures, edit filters and intuitively explore your data.

How do I change the chart type?

  1. On top of the visualization, tap the chart icon to see the available chart types.
  2. Tap the desired chart type.

How do I add or remove measures?

To add a measure:
  1. On top of the visualization, tap next to the selected measure.
  2. Tap the measure you want to add.
Note You can add up to three measures.
To remove a measure:
  1. On top of the visualization, tap the measure you want to remove.
  2. Tap .
Note There must be at least one measure selected.

How do I add or remove dimensions?

To add a dimension:
  1. On top of the visualization, tap next to the selected dimension.
  2. Tap the dimension you want to add.
Note You can add up to two dimensions.
To remove a dimension:
  1. On top of the visualization, tap the dimension you want to remove.
  2. Tap .
Note There must be at least one dimension selected.

How do I add or remove filters?

To add a filter:
  1. Tap to expand the facet panel.
  2. Tap the filter you want to apply.
You can also:
  1. Tap to focus on a facet.
  2. Tap the filters you want to apply.
  3. Tap .

The filters applied are dislpayed on top of the facet panel.

Tip When you focus on a facet, you can sort its values from A to Z, from Z to A, from smallest to highest and from highest to smallest.
Tip Use the search field to quickly find filters.
To remove filters:
  1. Tap the cross to remove the desired filter.

How do I select a data point?

You can select data points in the visualization or in the data table. To select a data point:
  1. Tap the desired data point. The data point is highlighted in the visualization and the data table.
Tip You can drag within a visualization to select multiple data points at once.

How do I see the legend of a visualization?

  1. Tap .
The legend displays the measures and dimensions applied.
Note Tap again to close the legend.

How do I save, share, reset or add annotations to a view?

  1. Tap to open the menu.
  2. Tap the desired option.
Tip From this menu you can also access the Full screen mode.

How do I sort or rank the data?

To sort the data:
  1. On top of a visualization, tap the button next to the selected dimension.
  2. Select ascending or descending order.
  3. Tap Done.
Note The sorting is applied based on one of the measures applied to the chart or following the natural order of the dimension.
To rank the data:
  1. On top of a visualization, tap the button next to the selected dimension.
  2. Select top or bottom to limit the values to the top or bottom "n" number of values.
  3. Tap Done.
Note The ranking is applied based on one of the measures applied to the chart.
Note When the switch button is ON, the remaining values are aggregated into a virtual value.

How do I switch between the Exploration Views of an Exploration View Set?

When you open an Exploration View Set:
  1. Swipe (left-right) to swith to the next or previous Exploration View.

How do I see the alternative views of a visualization?

When two dimensions are applied to a visualization, two or three small dots appear on top of the graph indicating the number of alternative views available:
  1. Swipe (left-right) with two fingers to see the alternative views available.
Tip You can also tap the dots on top of the graph to switch views.

How do I switch to Augmented View?

  1. Tap .
Note For the augmented views to be available, pre-defined points of interest (POI) should be defined by an Explorer administrator.

How do I change the map type in Augmented View?

  1. Tap .
  2. Select the desired map type.
Tip You can choose from standard, satellite and hybrid map types.

How do I enlarge, hide or adjust the radar in Augmented View?

To hide or dislpay the radar:
  1. Tap .
To enlarge or reduce the size of the radar:
  1. Tap the radar.
To adjust the distance filter:
  1. Tap the radar to enlarge it.
  2. Drag the red circle to adjust the distance between the center of the map and the POI to be filtered.
  3. Release.
To remove the distance filter:
  1. Tap the radar to enlarge it.
  2. Drag the red circle and expand it beyond the radar.
  3. Release.
