Inserting Workflows into Existing Workflows

Prerequisites

You can insert an existing workflow into the workflow you are currently processing. This procedure is the same as creating steps according to the rules of block orientation.

You can also directly transfer all subworkflows into your workflow that are referenced in your workflow.

Procedure

Insert existing workflow

The remaining procedure depends on whether the workflow definition to be inserted is displayed in the object area.

Variant A: Workflow definition displayed in object area:

  1. Select the workflow definition to be inserted in the tray My workflows and tasks.

  2. In the context menu, choose Include workflow definition.

Variant B: Workflow definition not displayed in object area:

  1. Choose Start of the navigation pathEdit Next navigation step Insert WorkflowEnd of the navigation path. The dialog box Insert workflow definition in workflow definition is opened.

  2. Choose the workflow whose definition you want to insert.

  3. Choose the version of this workflow definition.

Expand subworkflows

All subworkflows used in your workflow definition are inserted directly into the workflow definition. If there are naming conflicts between the container elements of the existing workflow container and the container elements to be inserted, the system informs you and gives you the opportunity to rename these container elements.

Choose Start of the navigation pathEdit Next navigation step Expand SubworkflowsEnd of the navigation path.

Result

The workflow definition inserted or the expanded subworkflow has now become an indistinguishable part of the original workflow definition.
