Object documentationSearch Connector

Establishes the connection between the data source provider and PCV, providing search access to a specific data source at a specific destination (logical system) or list of destinations. The definition of the search connector includes the description of the selection attributes and the structure of the result data.

There are four types of search connectors depending on the type of data source providers, which are frameworks for accessing data sources:

  • BI search connectors use SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence (BI).

  • BAPI search connectors use Business Application Programming Interface (BAPI)

  • ES search connectors use Embedded Search (ES)

  • SES search connectors use SAP NetWeaver Search Engine Service (SES)

Note Note

The system documentation (messages, field helps, Customizing documentation, and so on) uses the term SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search or Enterprise Search to mean Embedded Search.

End of the note.

Search connector is a business object of the Search Integration component of Product-Centric View (PCV). For more information, see Search Integration.

Structure

A search connector consists of input and output attributes.

BI, BAPI, and SES search connectors can also include a list of additional systems where the queries are executed.

For more information, see Definition of Search Connectors.

Integration

PCV integrates search connectors with the following business objects:

  • Query

Queries collect and analyze data provided by search connectors. For more information, see Query.

  • Query View

Query views show the result of query processing on the Web user interface. For more information, see Query View.

Example

PCV comes delivered with predefined search connectors to collect and deliver data to be analyzed about materials. For more information, see SAP Business Content for the Analysis of Materials.
