Creating a Rack Meter

Prerequisites

When creating rack meter data, you must specify the plant where the rack meter is located. You can assign the meter to materials either individually or to all materials. If you have chosen to use the meter for all materials, you do not have to enter specific materials on the (rack meter) assignment screen.

For storage locations, you make assignments on an individual basis or you assign the rack meter to all storage locations. If you choose the option of using the meter for all storage locations, you do not have to enter individual locations.

Procedure

  1. Choose Start of the navigation path Logistics Next navigation step Sales and Distribution Next navigation step Bulk transportation Next navigation step Master data Next navigation step Meter Next navigation step Rack meter Next navigation step Create End of the navigation path . This takes you to the initial screen for creating a rack meter.

  2. Choose ENTER to access the Create Rack Meter:Details screen.

  3. If you leave the Rack meter field blank, the system automatically proposes a number for the rack meter when you save the master data record.

    If you want to create a new rack meter by copying data from a rack meter that already exists, enter the number of the rack meter which already exists in the Rack Meter field in the Copy from area of the screen. The data that is copied can be changed while creating the new rack meter.

  4. In the Create Rack Meter:Details screen, enter a short description of the rack meter and enter the rack meter data:

  • Equipment

  • Unit of measure (UoM)

  • Plant in which the rack meter is used

  • Conversion factor

  • Number of digits

  • Deletion flag

  1. Make one of the following assignments for the rack meter (if applicable):

  • Select All materials , if you want the rack meter to be used for all the materials.

  • Select All stg.locs . (all storage locations), if you want the rack meter to be used for all storage locations.

  • Choose Start of the navigation path Goto Next navigation step Assignment screen End of the navigation path , to assign the meter to specific storage locations or materials. Enter the materials and/or the storage locations you want to in the Create Rack Meter: Assignment screen. Choose Start of the navigation path Goto Next navigation step Details screen End of the navigation path to return to the Create Rack Meter:Details screen.

  1. Enter the start reading for the meter.

  2. Save the rack meter.
