Transport Unit Assignment
Purpose
You must assign at least one transport unit to a vehicle, because a vehicle can only exist as a combination of transport units. You cannot create a vehicle without assigning a transport unit.
Prerequisites
The transport units available for assignment to a vehicle must have been previously created using the transport unit master data transaction.
Process Flow
In the
Create/Change Vehicle: Details
screen choose
Goto
TU assignment
. The
Transport Unit Assignment
screen is displayed where you enter the transport unit number. The system then copies the transport unit details into the vehicle master data record.
When a transport unit is assigned, the system checks the:
Transport units of measure to ensure that they are the same as the vehicle units of measure
Status of the transport unit to ensure that the transport unit is available and that it is not marked to be deleted.
The status
to be deleted
means the transport unit or vehicle is no longer needed and is blocked from being used in new shipments. When the re-organization program is run, the master data for the item is
archived
or deleted from the system, provided it is not assigned to any active shipments.
Result
The system displays the total number of transport units that have been assigned to the vehicle in the
Vehicle Details
area of the vehicle master data record. These details are also carried over to the
Vehicle Attributes
section of the vehicle master data record.
