Transport Unit TypeTransport unit types are a means of grouping together different transport units according to certain characteristics. You can define different transport unit types based on the following characteristics:
Mode of transport: road, rail, marine, barge
Physical type: prime mover, trailer, single unit, weight bearing unit
Whether or not a vapor recovery system is present
Preferred units of measure which can be changed for individual transport units
The transport unit type is entered on the

screen. In Customizing for
IS Oil & Gas (Downstream)
you can define transport unit types by choosing
Mode of Transport
The modes of transport supported in the system are:
Road
Rail
Marine
Barge
Pipeline
Physical Type of the Transport Unit
The system divides the physical type of the transport unit into a part that carries the load, a mover, and other load bearing elements. The physical type of the transport unit determines if compartments must be assigned to the transport unit. The physical types supported are:
Prime mover (no loading capacity)
Trailer (no engine and compartment assignment required)
Single units with engine and loading capacity (compartment assignment required)
Other weight-bearing units (no loading capacity)
For example, a truck could have a tractor as the prime mover, a trailer as a load-bearing unit, and the coupling for the trailer as a weight-bearing unit.
Vapor Recovery System
This flag indicates the existence of a vapor recovery system on the particular transport unit.
Weight Unit of Measure
The default weight unit of measure for the transport unit, which may be changed when you actually create the transport unit.
Volume Unit of Measure
The default volume unit of measure for the transport unit, which may be changed when you create the transport unit.
Text
A short text describing the transport unit which may be used as part of the selection criteria when using the transport unit within the system.
