Process documentation Creating Software Components in the SLD  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Purpose

To be able to develop your own applications, you must create your own software components (SCs) in the System Landscape Directory(SLD). You must do this before you start to develop your software. Normally, a system administrator or a quality manager creates the SCs.

For the tutorial, you must create two SCs. During development work, the developers can add multiple development components to a new SC.

Prerequisites

You have a user that can create SCs in the SLD.

Process Flow

In this step you have to complete the following tasks:

       1.      Create the products and software components.

       2.      Define usage dependencies.

       3.      Set up the name server.

       4.      Register the reserved prefix for the name reservation service.

Result

You have created the SCs Technology and Application and defined the required dependencies and development component name prefixes.
