Procedure documentation Editing CBS Build Compartment XML  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

When you save a track, the Change Management Service (CMS) generates the correct XML content for performing the build in the Component Build Service (CBS). This XML content is part of the development configuration and defines the CBS build compartment in which the software component is built. In special cases, you may need to edit the content of the XML file:

      If you want to enter build options in the CBS build compartment.

      If you need to enter a dependency relationship for a required SC.

Prerequisites

You have created a track.

The XML content needs to be different from the standard settings.

You work in the CMS Landscape Configurator.

Procedure

Creating new build variants

To add a new build variant:

       1.      In the Landscape Configurator, select the Track Data link.

       2.      Choose Build Variants tab page.

       3.      To edit a build variant switch to editing mode.

To do that choose the Change pushbutton.

       4.      Select the build variant in the table and choose the Add… pushbutton.

       5.      Specify the details of the build variant.

If you want to add build options, you can use the build options. For more information, see Build Options.

       6.      Choose Add pushbutton to add the build option to the list.

       7.      Choose Cancel to exit the build options dialog.

       8.      Save the track and switch back to display mode.

Editing build variants

To edit the content of the build compartment:

...

       1.      In the Landscape Configurator, select the Track Data link.

       2.      Choose Build Variants tab page.

       3.      To edit a build variant switch to editing mode.

To do that choose the Change pushbutton.

       4.      Select the build variant in the table and choose the Edit… pushbutton.

       5.      Apply the changes you want.

       6.      Save the track and switch back to display mode.

Note

When you change the CBS build compartment you also change the development configuration. This means that the developers need to download a new development configuration in SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio, so that the changes can take effect.
