Purpose

The Diagram view is a graphical tool for displaying and editing J2EE and J2EE DC projects. The structure of each project is represented as a UML diagram.

Features

The Diagram view provides the following features:

·        Double-clicking an object in the Diagram view will open either another page of the Diagram view or the relevant editor for the object selected, as appropriate.

·        Changes that you make using the Diagram view are represented in the J2EE Explorer or J2EE DC Explorer automatically.

·        When something is created or deleted in the Diagram view, the relevant project is automatically saved.

·        The toolbar automatically displays the appropriate options for a given project type.

·        The base operation to use is drag-and-drop for positioning and resizing objects.

Overview Tab

The Overview tab gives you an overview of the complete diagram and allows you to efficiently navigate in large diagrams. The overview tab is in the lower right corner of the Diagram view. Simply click the tab to hide or display the overview.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

You can change the size by dragging the top left corner of the overview. Inside the overview, the currently visible area of the Diagram view is shown in a shaded rectangle. By dragging the shaded rectangle or clicking on the desired spot, you can move to different areas of the diagram.

Constraints

You cannot create projects in the Diagram view – you can only edit them.

You can only create J2EE-specific things such as EJB components. For other elements, use the standard wizards and editors.
