Use the Transport view to release activities in the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio. The Transport view provides you with a hierarchy of all activities that you have checked in and activated or released in a development configuration that originates either from the Change and Transport System (CTS) of AS ABAP using CM Services, or from Change Management Service (CMS) of the SAP NetWeaver Development Infrastructure (NWDI). You can distinguish between the origin of the development configurations that you use, from the displayed name of the development configuration – they are marked differently depending on whether they were created in CM Services or CMS.
When you release the activities, they are added automatically to transport requests. You see the names of the transport requests as a separate subnode under the status nodes as follows:
● <Name of SC>
This node lists all activities that you have released with this transport request.
The hierarchy is structured as followed:
● Development Configuration
○ DTR Workspace
■ Failed
(Only relevant for Change Management Service (CMS)) Any change requests that caused export errors.
■ Waiting
Any activities that have not yet been released.
■ Released
All change requests that have been released.
● Release
You use this function to attach the activity to a transport request. The changes are exported and placed in the import queue of the follow-on system after the transport request has been released.
You can only execute this function for activities in the state Waiting.
● Restart export
Only relevant for CMS.
You use this function to restart the export. You may need to do this if the export step could not be fully performed. You can use this function for change requests under the Failed node only.
● Export Log
Only relevant for CMS.
The export log records the state of the export step and is available for change requests that have the state Failed or Released.
● View Activity Details
The detail view of the activity contains the following information:
○ Display Name/Description
Name and description of the activity.
○ Elements
Resources included in the activity.
○ Last Modified
Date the activity was last modified and the user.
○ Integrated in
Information about the DTR workspaces into which the activity is integrated. This includes information about whether the activity has already been imported into the consolidation system.
● Properties
The properties contain the parameters that are used to define the activities in the DTR and the number of the transport request that has been used when releasing the activities that are listed below this node. For release change requests of development configurations, created with the CM Services you can also see the DIP file attached to the transport request.
The Menu of the transport view contains the following functions:

To access the CM Services directly, choose Go to Transport Organizer Web UI. You can perform all post-release transport actions in this interface.

● Sort Activities - You can sort the activities in the display.
● Sort Activity Elements - You can sort the elements of an activity.
To set the transport view so that you can see at workspace level whether there are any software components with waiting or canceled activities, you can choose Customize View → Enable Pending Workspace Decorators. The result is shown by the following decorators on the workspace icon:
● Activities have the status Waiting.
● Activities have the status Failed.
If both statuses occur in a single workspace, the Failed status overrides the Waiting status.
This function is intended to give administrators and quality managers a quick overview of the state of workspaces and software components. Since checking the workspaces is highly runtime-intensive, the function is disabled by default for performance reasons.
For an overview and explanation of all the icons used in the Transport View, choose Display Legend.
