Background documentation User Authentication and User Authorization in the DTR  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

The DTR provides a facility to allow for a controlled user access. The control over the access of the resources in the repository is exercised in two steps namely Authentication and Authorization.

Authentication aims at checking if the user is allowed to connect to the repository server.

For user authentication, the DTR uses the User Management Engine (UME). DTR has a configuration parameter which defined how user names can be used. Usually, in the DTR Unique Names are used for users and groups.

Authorization aims at checking if the user is allowed to perform the operation he or she is trying to execute.
