You use the check-in function to register with Change Management Service any software component archives (SCAs) you have received from an external source. This makes the archives available for transport along tracks through the development landscape.
You are in Transport Studio.
You have downloaded the archives that you want to check in from SAP Service Marketplace and have copied them to the inbox directory or to another directory in the Web AS Java installation.
In the check-in table, you see only those SCAs whose software components are also configured in the track. CMS filters out all other SCAs.
To ensure the data consistency of a track, the following SCAs are not displayed in the list:
■ SCAs that you have assembled in the same track. Checking in these SCAs would make it impossible to reset the track data, as you would no longer be able to import SCAs with a lower Support Package number. These SCAs cannot be propagated either.
■ SCAs that you have created using the Export SCA function. The archives created during the export are not tested and might be inconsistent. Checking in this data can result in loss of data.
To check in a new archive to a development track, proceed as follows:
...
1. In Transport Studio, choose the Check-In tab page.
A table of all software component archives (SCAs) configured for the selected track appears. You can filter this table and sort the data in ascending or descending order.
By default, the list displays the content of the inbox directory. You can use the Configure Check-In... function to specify further directory paths that you can check in SCAs from.
The check-in table shows you the following information about the SCAs:

2. Select the software component archives that you want to check in to the track. You have the option of checking in multiple SCAs in to the track at the same time.
3. To place the selected archives in the import queue of the development system, choose Check-In.
You have checked the software component archives in to CMS and placed them in the import queue of the development system.
