The Development Configurations perspective is a starting point for developing projects (such as EJB or Web Dynpro projects) on a component basis. If you are starting this perspective for the first time, then you require a development configuration. You can import this into the perspective using a wizard.
To display the Development Configurations Perspective, choose the menu path Window → Open Perspective and then select Development Configurations.
The main components of the Development Configurations Perspective include the Team View, the Local View, and the list of open and completed DTR activities.
The Team View lists all the software components that belong to the development configuration you have chosen. The view also shows all the development components assigned to each software component. The view indicates whether each development component is active or inactive. The team view offers the developer a starting point for various activities, including: Importing development configurations; synchronizing development components from the team view into the local view; and creating new development components.
In contrast, the Local View shows only development components available on the developer’s local PC as development component projects. The Local View allows the developer to perform DTR actions – such as Synch, Check Out, or Add to Activity – on local development components or parts of a development component project.
The following graphic shows part of the Development Configurations perspective with the Team View (left), Local View (center), and the list of DTR activities (right). In this example, the test configuration IDETest1 includes the software component CRM with its associated active and inactive development components.
