The Web Dynpro Console offers a number of functions for monitoring the Web Dynpro applications that were deployed to the J2EE Engine and for displaying the configuration settings of the Web Dynpro runtime environment.
You can also perform Performance Measurements with this tool. Performance measurements are necessary if you developed a Web Dynpro application whose response times are longer than users expect.
You have administrator rights for the J2EE Engine or for SAP Enterprise Portal. If you do not have administrator rights, you can only access a small part of the monitoring information.
The Web Dynpro Console is installed with the J2EE Engine and can be launched from the Welcome page of the J2EE Engine with the URL http://<Host Name>:<Port Number>/webdynpro/welcomeby selecting Web Dynpro Console. Alternately the Web Dynpro Console is part of the initial content of SAP Enterprise Portal and can be launched in the portal with System Administration → System Configuration by selecting Web Dynpro Console in the detailed navigation. To access the Web Dynpro Console, you must authenticate yourself for this tool.
When you call the Web Dynpro Console, a tree that is used as a user menu appears at the upper left of the user interface. Depending on your authorization role, you can call the functions assigned to your role in the underlying nodes. The role of the logged on user is displayed above the tree. If you do not have administration rights, you can only access some of the functions. For example, you do not have access to the performance data under the node Applications. To access the required data or to perform the measurements, navigate in the tree to the corresponding tree nodes. You can find a description of the tree nodes below.
The user menu can be expanded to the following main areas:
·
Performance (see
also Performance
Measurements)
In the sub-levels for these tree items you can display or determine data
giving information about the response times of requests or the times of the
components involved in a request response cycle:
