Using Virtual Master DataLocate this document in the navigation structure

If you want to use virtual navigation attributes and texts in a VirtualProvider based on an SAP HANA view, you need to create virtual master data.

Prerequisites

You are using an SAP HANA database.

Context

You can use attribute views, analytic views and calculation views.

Procedure

  1. You are in the Data Warehousing Workbench in the Modeling area. Choose the InfoObjects area.
  2. In the context menu for your InfoObject catalog, choose Create InfoObject. Assign a name and a description and choose ContinueContinue. The InfoObject editing screen appears.
  3. Make the required entries for your InfoObject.
  4. On the Master Data/Texts tab page, choose SAP HANA View as the master data access.
  5. Specify an SAP HANA package and an SAP HANA attribute view. The system does not differentiate between analysis views and calculation views.
  6. Choose Suggest SAP HANA Links.
  7. Select the SAP HANA attributes for which you want to generate proposals and chooseApplyApply. A list of proposals appears. The attributes of the SAP HANA view are displayed in folders. The proposals are listed under these folders. Choose Technical DetailsTechnical Details to display the strategy for creating proposals.
The fields of the view are assigned to fields. Additional view fields are added to the virtual InfoObject.
With analytic views and calculation views, time dependency is represented using an input parameter. The InfoObject is checked for input parameters. If it does have input parameters, the field 1KEYDATE is added and this can be assigned to an input parameter.
  8. In each case, select a suitable proposal for attributes, texts, and compounding (if applicable).

If none of the suggested InfoObjects are suitable, you can initially leave the attribute unassigned and assign it manually later on. Choose ContinueContinue. The attributes are assigned. If you have selected texts (TXTSH, TXTMD, TXTLG), the relevant flag for texts is set on the Master Data/Texts tab page.

Analysis views and calculation views are checked for an input parameter. This parameter is used to represent time dependency for analysis views and calculation views. If an input parameter is available, the field 1KEYDATE is added to the InfoObject. This field can be assigned to the input parameter.

  9. Assigning attributes manually:

    Choose Maintain HANA Links.

  10. In each case, select suitable SAP HANA attributes for attributes, texts, and compounding (if applicable) and choose Apply.
  11. Activate the characteristic.

Results

You can now use the characteristic with virtual master data in your VirtualProvider.
