Monitor and Error HandlingLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

You can monitor the remodeling process using the monitor

Features

The status of a request and the corresponding steps are displayed in the monitor.

When a remodeling rule is executed, errors may occur for several reasons:

  • Problems with the database (insufficient table space, duplicate keys, partitioning, and so on)

  • Problems with the application server caused by large volumes of data (for example, timeout)

  • Problems caused by Cutomer Exit

If an error occurs, you have the following options:

Restart Request

You can restart the request by choosing Restart Request in the context menu for the request. If the error occurred during the conversion step and you can rectify the problem(for example, if the error occurred due to an incorrect code in the customer exit), you have to correct the error and then restart the request. The remodeling request restarts at the place where it stopped last time.

Prerequisite:

Before restarting the request, you need to check and clear the error. The shadow table must be available. If you try to manually activate the InfoProvider after remodeling, the shadow table might be deleted. In this case, a restart may not be possible.

Undo Request

If the error occurred during the conversion step and it cannot be rectified, then you can reset the InfoProvider to its original form by choosing Undo in the context menu for the request. The system will update the metadata, activate the infoprovider and delete the request.

Prerequisite:

The shadow table must be available. If you try to manually activate the InfoProvider after remodeling, the shadow table might be deleted. In this case, a restart may not be possible.

Note
  • If the rule has multiple operations and some of the operations have already been completed successfully, it is not possible to undo these operations.

  • DSO remodeling: if the change log contains data and remodeling fails during the conversion of the change log table, it may not be possible to recover the change log data. In this case, a warning message appears when you perform the check.

Reset Step

In exceptional cases, it is only possible to reset a single step. In the context menu of one of the steps, choose Reset Step. The reset step is then executed again if the request is restarted.
