Modeling InfoObjects as InfoProvidersLocate this document in the navigation structure

Prerequisites

In the InfoObject maintenance on the Master Data/Texts tab page you set the indicator with master data.

Context

You can indicate an InfoObject of type characteristic as an InfoProvider if it has attributes. The data is then loaded into the master data tables using the transformation rules.

You can also define BEx queries for the master data of the characteristic.

Procedure

  1. You are in the InfoObject maintenance of the characteristic you want to use as the InfoProvider. Choose tab page Master Data/Text and assign an InfoArea to the characteristic. The characteristic is subsequently displayed in the InfoProvider tree in the Data Warehousing Workbench.

More information: Tab Page: Master Data/Texts

  2. Choose the Attributes tab page. With Navigation Attributes InfoProvider, you can select two-level navigation attributes (that is, the navigation attributes of the navigation attributes of the characteristic). These are then available like normal characteristics in the query definition.

    More information: Tab Page: Attributes

  3. Save and activate the characteristic.

  4. Create a transformation for the characteristic.

  5. Create a data transfer process for the characteristic.

Results

You can load the attributes and texts for the characteristic. The characteristic is available in the BEx Query Designer as an InfoProvider.
