Setting up the WM-PP Interface

Use

The interface between the Warehouse Management system (WMS) and the Production Control of the application component Production Planning (WM-PP interface) ensures direct material staging from the warehouse to production.

Prerequisites

You have set up the application component Production Planning (PP).

You have set up the application component Warehouse Management system (WMS).

You have defined number ranges for control cycles. To do this, choose the activity Start of the navigation path KANBAN Next navigation step Define Number Range for Control Cycle End of the navigation path in the Customizing for Production.

Procedure

You have activated the interface between the WMS and PP in the Customizing for Warehouse Management under Start of the navigation path Interfaces Next navigation step Define Production End of the navigation path . To do this, proceed as follows:

  1. Define a WMS movement type for material staging to production and a WMS movement type for goods receipt from production in the Customizing for Warehouse Management under Start of the navigation path Activities Next navigation step Transfers Next navigation step Define Movement Types End of the navigation path .

  2. In the standard system, WMS movement type 319 is set up for material staging.

In the standard system, WMS movement type 103 is set up for goods receipt from production. This movement type is assigned to IM movement type 101 .

  3. Define at least one production storage type as an interface storage type for material staging.

  4. In the standard system, storage type 100 is set up for material staging.

  5. Assign the WMS movement type for material staging to your material staging storage type in the Customizing for Warehouse Management under Start of the navigation path Interfaces Next navigation step Define production Next navigation step Replenishment movement type Next navigation step Assign. End of the navigation path

  6. Create the production supply areas in the Customizing for Warehouse Management under Start of the navigation path Interfaces Next navigation step Define production Next navigation step Production supply area Next navigation step Maintain. End of the navigation path

  7. Define and manage the physical production storage bins in the WMS.

  8. For more information, see Creating Storage Bins .

  9. Create control cycles for the components to be staged.

  10. You define how a component is to be staged for a production supply area, and in which production storage bin.

  11. If you want to activate automatic material staging for production orders, define a production scheduling profile in the Customizing for Warehouse Management under Start of the navigation path Interfaces Next navigation step Define Production Next navigation step Define control data Next navigation step Production View, End of the navigation path and set the indicator WM request.

  12. For more information, see Automatic Material Staging .

You can only use automatic material staging if you have assigned a production storage bin to all of the staging components.

  13. Activate the WM-PP interface by setting the indicator PP interface active in the Customizing for Warehouse Management under Start of the navigation path Interfaces Next navigation step Define Production Next navigation step Define Control Data Next navigation step Whse Management View Next navigation step Warehouse Number End of the navigation path .

Result

The WM-PP interface is set up for material staging from the warehouse to production and for the receipt of finished materials from production to the warehouse.
