Stock Days’ Supply and Receipt Days’ Supply The stock days' supply of a material indicates how long a material will cover requirements if you only take current plant stock into account.
The
receipt days’ supply
of a material indicates how long the stock will last if receipts that you are expecting are additionally taken into account. You can define two different receipt days’ supplies. You can thus specify, for example, that in the case of the receipt days’ supply 1
all possible
receipt elements are to be taken into account, whereas in the case of the receipt days’ supply 2
only the really definite
receipt elements (such as shipping notifications and production orders) are to be considered.
By using these ranges of coverage, the planner can see whether any action needs to be taken with regard to a material.
The system calculates the ranges of coverage (days’ supplies) in each planning run and each time the stock/requirements list is called up.
The ranges of coverage (days' supplies) are displayed in the planning result, the material overviews of the collective access screens, and in the header details (Ranges of Coverage tab page) of the MRP list and the current stock/requirements list. See also: Evaluation of Range-of-Coverage Data
In the collective access of the MRP list or stock/requirements list, you can select the relevant lists via these three key figures using the Provisional Ranges of Coverage tab page.
You define the receipt elements that are to be taken into account for the receipt days’ supply 1 and 2 in the IMG activity
Define Receipt Elements for Receipt Days’ Supply
in Customizing for Material Requirements Planning.
In Customizing, you define the receipt elements that the system is to take into account when calculating the
receipt days’ supply 1 and 2
.
In the case of in-house production, you have the choice between production/process orders, firm planned orders, and assigned planned orders. Assigned planned orders are planned orders that have been assigned a
production version
. In repetitive manufacturing, this corresponds to manufacture on a particular production line.
To calculate the stock days' supply and the receipt days’ supply, you specify in Customizing via the
Safety Stock
field whether the system is to use the safety stockor the stock actually on handto determine the number of days that a material will cover requirements.
If the safety stock is to be taken into account, the system calculates the number of days until the stock level falls below the safety stock level. If only the stock actually on hand is to be taken into account, the system calculates the number of days until the stock level falls to 0.
