Migrating the Transport Method from CTS+ to HTA

If you have previously used the enhanced Change and Transport System (CTS+) to transport SAP HANA, you can migrate the transport method to SAP HANA transport for ABAP (HTA).

Context

Before you switch the transport method from CTS+ to HTA, note the following points:
  • All systems that belong to your ABAP landscape for SAP HANA, must have at least release SAP NetWeaver 7.4 SPS 11.

  • Transport requests created using CTS+ cannot be imported any more when using HTA, as a different deploy method is used.

  • The import history of the CTS+ imports is not continued. There is one import history for CTS+ imports and another for HTA. If you still need the CTS+ import history after migration, note that you cannot remove the non-ABAP target systems of the imports that you used in the CTS+ context from the CTS+ landscape configuration.

Procedure

  1. Make sure that the transport landscape for the ABAP systems where you want to use HTA to transport SAP HANA content is configured. Apart from this, no further configuration is required for HTA.

For more information about configuring the Transport Management System for ABAP, see Configuring TMS.

  2. Clean the imports that you have performed using CTS+. This includes the following actions:
    • Make sure that no new transport requests are displayed. You can achieve this by informing the developers of the planned migration. Alternatively, you can set system-specific authorizations in such a way that only system administrators who are involved in the migration process are authorized to work on transport requests for systems in the transport landscape.

    • Release or delete all open transport requests in the development system.

    • Import all transport requests to all systems in your transport landscape.

  3. Delete the configuration of your CTS+ transport landscape. To do this, you need to reset all actions that you performed for the configuration. This can include the following actions:
    • If you have configured your own transport landscape for transports using CTS+, you can delete the transport routes between the non-ABAP systems in Transport Management System (TMS). Also delete the parameters for the non-ABAP transports, parameter NON_ABAP_WBO_CLIENT for example.

    • If you do not need the import history of CTS+ imports, remove the non-ABAP systems from the CTS+ configuration.

    • If you still need the transport routes that you configured for the CTS+ landscape for other transports, you cannot modify the CTS+ configuration. You can use HTA without performing this step.

  4. To enable them to use HTA, give the people who will work with HTA the authorizations required for transaction SCTS_HTA.

Results

You can now perform your SAP HANA content transports with HTA.
