Selecting Current Values and History of Operating System Data
Use
In the operating system monitor, you can display both current data and the relevant history for various topic areas.
More information about the various topics: Selecting the Views of the Operating System Monitor. This section describes how to determine the period from which you want to display data. You have three options:
Snapshot
The entries in this subtree are taken from the current, available operating system data. They are taken directly from the shared memory to which the operating system collector SAPOSCOL writes. If you choose an entry from this subtree, the system displays the time of the last measurement in addition to the measured values themselves.
Previous Hours
The entries in this subtree show the hourly average values for the operating system data for the last 24 hours. The data is taken from the CCMS monitoring infrastructure. The system displays the following information for every hourly average value:
Column Meaning System ID
System ID of the instance running on the relevant host. In the case of hosts with no instance, this is the ID of the system with which the relevant agent is registered.
Application Server
Name of the instance running on the relevant host (naming convention <host name>_<System ID>_<instance number> for ABAP instances and <host name>_<system ID>_<instance number>_X for Java instances).
In the case of hosts with no instance, the name of the host itself is displayed here.
Summaries
Area from which the associated data originates; there are the following two areas:
- OperatingSystem
- OperatingSystem/Filesystem
Object Name
The monitoring object groups the values that are reported in the monitoring infrastructure, such as CPU or Filesystem. A monitoring object usually contains multiple monitoring attributes, which contain the actual measurement results.
Attribute
Name of the node in the monitoring infrastructure in which the values are reported, such as CPU_Utilization for the percentage utilization of the CPU of a host.
Date
Date of the values
You can choose between a number of different output formats when displaying the data:
Output Format Description
Display as a Table (Horizontal)The measured values are displayed as follows:
- The rows contain the different values, sorted by the data System ID, Application Server, and Object Name described above.
- The columns contain the available hours for a date, for which average values exist.
Display as a TreeThe measured values are displayed in a tree structure, sorted by System ID, Application Server, and Object Name. For each attribute, the measured hourly values for a date are displayed in a row.
Display as a Table (Vertical)The measured values are displayed as follows:
- The rows contain the different hours for which values exist.
- The columns contain the various attributes.
History
The entries in this subtree also show the hourly average values for the operating system data, but for the last 30 days. The source of this data is the Central Performance History (CPH). For you to be able to view operating system data in this subtree, the CPH must be configured on the local system. In particular, collection and reorganization schemata must be assigned to MTE classes for operating system monitoring. You can display and change this assignment in the operating system monitor (more information: Displaying and Changing CPH Settings in the Operating System Monitor).
You can choose between a number of different output formats when displaying the data:

Display TotalsThe structure of this output format is largely the same as the above format
Display All. The difference is that, for each day, only one average value is displayed for each attribute. To display the corresponding hourly average values, choose the
button for the desired day.
Activities
To define the periods for which you want to display operating system data, choose the appropriate entry from the above subtree.
Operating System Monitor start page
