Exporting an Offline Package

Prerequisites

The content exchange repository is not contained in the list of repositories to be excluded in the configuration of the virtual root repository ( Start of the navigation pathSystem Administration Next navigation step System Configuration Next navigation step Knowledge Management Next navigation step Configuration Next navigation step Content Management Next navigation step Repository Managers Next navigation step Virtual Root Repository Next navigation step Repositories to ExcludeEnd of the navigation path).

The HIde in Root Folder flag is inactive in the configuration of the content exchange repository ( Start of the navigation pathSystem Administration Next navigation step System Configuration Next navigation step Knowledge Management Next navigation step Configuration Next navigation step Content Management Next navigation step Repository Managers Next navigation step Content Exchange RepositoryEnd of the navigation path).

These settings are made by a system administrator. For more information, see Repositories and Repository Managers .

Context

You use the ICE repository to export a content package manually. The package can contain several components, that is, several sub-hierarchies that are located in differet repositories.

Procedure

  1. In the top-level navigation area, choose Start of the navigation pathContent Administration Next navigation step KM ContentEnd of the navigation path.
  2. Navigate to the folder Start of the navigation pathICE Next navigation step Syndicator Next navigation step Global Offer.End of the navigation path.
  3. Choose Start of the navigation pathFolder Next navigation step New Next navigation step LinkEnd of the navigation path.
  4. Choose Browse… and navigate to the folder whose content you want to distribute. Select the folder in question and confirm with OK .

    If the package is to contain multiple components, create multiple links in the Global Offer folder.

  5. Click on Complete Package or Incremental Package .
    • A complete package contains all documents in the folders and sub-folders to which you created links.

    • An incremental package contains only the files necessary for an incremental update - new and changed documents and folders and the identifying data for deleted documents and folders.

  6. Choose Save File on Data Carrier .

    You reach the save dialog window of your operating system.

  7. Choose a storage location on a hard disk and save the package.

Results

The content package is located as a ZIP file on your hard disk. You can write the ZIP file to a CD or provide it on a server for manual download.
