Archiving - Maintaining a Variant (CA-TS)

 

To execute an archiving run, you must enter a variant. You use this variant to specify which time sheet data should be selected for archiving.

In addition to entering the variant, you must specify the start date and the spool parameters before you can start to archive.

Activities

  1. On the initial screen of the Archive Administration (transaction SARA), enter archiving object CATS_DATA and confirm your entry.

  2. Choose Write.

    The Archive Administration: Create Archive Files screen appears.

  3. Enter a variant name and choose Maintain.

    The Variants: Screen Assignment dialog box appears.

  4. If required, state whether you want to create the variant for all selection screens, or only for the archiving screen, and choose Continue.

    The Variant Maintenance screen, where you can specify which time sheet data should be archived, appears.

  5. Enter the required selection criteria. Decide if you want to create the variant to execute a test run or if you want to use the variant to start the archiving process.

    We recommend that you carry out a test run before starting the actual archiving to detect any errors in advance.

    If you want to use the same variant for the archiving run as you used for the test run, you must first delete the test run from the job overview. Call up the variant and on the selection screen, select the archiving option instead of the test run option.

  6. Select Attributes and enter a description of the variant.

  7. Save your entries.

Result

You have created a variant to execute a test run or to start the archiving process.
