Supply scenario

Use

In the regulated energy market, energy supply to a customer is performed by one company (“the utility company”). The resulting contractual relationship is mapped in SAP IS-U as a contract with the customer, resulting in a contract-oriented data model.

In the deregulated energy market, energy supply to a customer is performed by a combination of companies, each taking on a clearly defined function. In this context, a distinction is made between distributors, the companies that provide the supply grid, and suppliers, the companies that supply the energy. Depending on the type of market, additional functions can also be required in energy supply. For example, another function might be that of the settlement coordinator, who is in charge of settlement of energy quantities.

You can use the functions of the supply scenario to define the appropriate data models for the supply situations to be supported by your system and automatically set these up or change them for a point of delivery.

This means the administrator does not have to perform the complex and time-consuming task of adjusting the data model to take account of the new supply situation for the point of delivery; instead, this task is performed automatically by the system.

Integration

The companies involved in energy supply are defined in SAP IS-U as service providers and their functions as service types .

The point of delivery is a central object in the data model that represents the supply scenario in SAP IS-U. This means that the supply situation is analyzed for the point of delivery and not for the customer.

The contract relationships resulting from the supply situation are defined in SAP IS-U for each service provider with reference to the point of delivery as a contract (for contract relationships relevant to billing) or as non-billable services (for contract relationships not relevant to billing).

These are simply referred to as services in the following sections.

Different supply situations can come into being in the deregulated energy market for the points of delivery to be managed in the system.

For example, grid usage and supply services can be performed by a service provider operating in the system (termed own service provider ). In this case, both these services must be defined as services relevant to settlement (contracts) for the corresponding point of delivery.

If the customer chooses a different supplier ( third party service provider ), this changes their supply situation. This change is mapped in the SAP IS-U data model by replacing the contract for the delivery service by the own supplier with a non-billable delivery service by the third party supplier.

Features

The supply scenario enables the following functions:

  • Definition of the supply scenarios to be supported

  • You can define the supply scenarios that are to be supported in the system, together with their characteristics, in Customizing.

  • Data model generation

    Starting from the supply scenario selected for the point of delivery, you can use the data model generation function to set up and adjust the master data on the point of delivery automatically.

    Master data on the point of delivery that you can influence using the data model generation function in the supply scenario:

    • Contracts

    • Non-billable services (point of delivery services)

    • Utility installations

    • Contract accounts

      The supply scenario performs the following activities:

    • Set up supply scenario

    • Create master data corresponding to the desired supply situation for the point of delivery

    • Change of supply scenario

    • Adjust master data on point of delivery according to the changed supply situation

    • Exit supply scenario

    • Exit master data on the point of delivery that described the supply situation valid until that point

    • Move the starting date of the supply scenario

    • Move the validity period of the master data on the point of delivery that correspond to the supply situation

  • Data model analysis

    The data model analysis analyzes the master data on a point of delivery, uses it to determine the supply scenario for the point of delivery and then displays this.

Migration

The supply scenario does not contain a specific function for migrating master data.

Execute master data migration for a point of delivery for the individual objects (for example, point of delivery, service, and contract) in such a way that the master data created for the point of delivery corresponds to the desired supply scenario.

Restriction of Automatic Service Determination

This section is only relevant for you if the function for automatic service determination is active in your system. Automatic service determination creates non-billable services directly when a move-in is entered and ends them when a move-out is entered.

The function for automatic service determination is no longer active in Release 4.71. Non-billable services for the point of delivery are now created and ended by the supply scenario function (see Deregulation Settings ).

You can use a “deregulation switch” in SAP Utilities 4.64 to switch between the function for automatic service determination and the supply scenario function. You cannot use both functions simultaneously.

Caution Caution

You should only use the automatic service determination function if it is active in your production system. If this is this case, the supply scenario functions are not available to you.
