Switch Document

The switch document is the object used to control and document the change of supplier process. The statuses of the change of supplier process, the related activities, and the received or sent messages are recorded in the switch document.

You can use the object service toolbox to attach the functions of the object services (for example, attachments, notes, and links) to each switch document.

Documentation and control takes place for the current switch document view. This means that you can create a switch document for each switch view, even if a market participant plays multiple roles (for example, distributor and supplier).

The point of delivery is the central element in the change of supplier process.

The switch document contains the following elements:

  • Header data

    The most important control data for the change of supplier is defined in the header data.

    • Document header (point of delivery, business partner, participating service providers, switch date, status)

      Double-click the master data in the document header to display the respective objects.

    • Process data (switch type, switch view)

    • Details (start and target supply scenario)

  • Activities

    The individual process steps for the change of supplier are defined as activities. Each activity can contain references to any number of SAP IS-U objects, which you can reach by forward navigation.

    The objects are displayed in the SAP list viewer. You can adjust the layout of the SAP list viewer and save it for later use.

  • Log

    An application log is used for the switch document to record additional information regarding errors and actions.

  • Message data

    The message data consists of all communication steps necessary to carry out the change of supplier process. This includes an overview of the content of the sent/received messages. You can use the Import/Export or Generate columns to branch to the corresponding data exchange tasks.

Authorization object

The authorization object E_SWTDOC is used for the switch document to assign authorizations to the Create, Change, and Display activities in conjunction with an authorization group and the switch view.
