Obfuscate Data

Cloud Studio allows you to hide personal and sensitive data of a project. The Cloud Studio also ensures personal and sensitive data are managed securely. You can also manually hide data in a captured application screen.

Obfuscate Data in a Project

You must create a rule to obfuscate data. You can manage rules in the Data Protection tab.

Field or Button Name

Create

Click here to create a new rule.

Name

Enter a name for your rule.

For example, Email search, or Starts with.

Type

Click here to choose the rule type.

For example, ID, Mail, Name, System, or Other.

Search for

Enter the text you would like to search for here.

If you would like to search for more than one word, they must be separated by line breaks. You can enter a maximum of 50 words.

Search

Click here to display the search results found across the project.

Use the filter options or search bar to narrow down the search results.

Replace selected data with

Enter the word that will replace the existing word to be obfuscated here.

Replace

Click here to confirm the replacement.

Use case

The following example shows that the existing word, secret is replaced with the new word, anonymous.

  1. Go to the Data Protection tab.

  2. Click Create. The Search and Replace screen is displayed.

  3. Enter the rule name in the Name field.

  4. Select the Type from the drop-down list.

  5. Enter the word to be obfuscated in the Search for field.

  6. Click Search. The system displays the list of words found across the project.

  7. Select all to replace the word in all locations found in the project or select the specific location of the word.

  8. Enter the word that must replace the existing word in the Replace selected data with field.

  9. Click Replace. The Cloud Studio reloads and replaces the existing word with the new word in all selected locations. For example, refer to the following screenshot.

Obfuscate Data in a Captured Screen

You must capture an application screen to blur an area or data. For more details about capturing an application screen, refer to the Capture an Application section.

After capturing an application screen, click the Blur area icon and then select the to be blurred data or area.

The data or area is blurred.
