Update from File

Context

You can use the Update from File command to update the content of an opened file with matching content from an external file. You are informed of the result of the update operation and also provided with a tool to assist in resolving problems. This is called the Review Changes window.

When using the Update from File option::

  • Matching is supported by persistent IDs

  • Authoring is separated from the CAD structure, and can be re-applied to new versions of geometry or structure

Procedure

  1. From the menu bar, choose Start of the navigation pathFile Next navigation step Update from FileEnd of the navigation path to display the Update Content window.
  2. If necessary, choose Update Content Options to modify the Update settings.
  3. Select the required file and choose Open. SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Author starts the update process by searching for Persistent Identifier matches between the open file and the inbound file, based upon the update settings.
  4. If matches are found, SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Author displays the Review Changes window to help reconcile authoring. For more information, see Reviewing Changes
  5. Reconcile all changes and confirm your replacements by clicking Confirm.
