The following options are available from the menu:

Menu Options

Functional Description

Matching Method

Determines the method used to identify which parts are the same in each file

  • Visual Enterprise IDs: Indicates that the scenes have the Visual Enterprise IDs.

    • Type: Parts are matched based on a specific ID type. The available options are identifiers in the currently loaded scene that are associated with entities. The default is SAP:VE_COMPONENT

    • Identifier Parts: Specifies the type of match from a list of part associated with the selected identifier type.

  • Component Names: Selects the way in which the replacements are identified in the Scene tree
  • Metadata Values: Specifies the metadata key to be used for entity matching

String Matching Rules

Configures the settings for string comparison
  • Compare Full Strings: Compares the full name of each part. To make a successful match, the name must be identical.

  • Compare First: Compares only the first x number of characters to make a successful match

  • Compare Except Last: Compares only the last x number of characters to make a successful match

  • Case Sensitive: Considers case when matching

  • Match Pattern: Sets a comparison pattern to make a successful match. The pattern can be used to display RegEx parsing errors as user types.

Content Update Rules

Determines how the update treats content in the source file that is considered authoring content. The default strategy is a direct update from CAD files that contain no Visual Enterprise authoring content. The exception is Visual Manufacturing Planner, which after restructuring the original CAD content to reflect the manufacturing structure, also creates procedures and steps. The procedures and steps are treated as pure authoring content. To support this exception, you must use the update strategy Visual Manufacturing.

  • Content Update Strategy: Defines the content update strategy to use when updating
