Edit Menu

Use

The Edit menu is used to perform a number of common functions for 2D and 3D files and folders displayed in the File list, including copying, moving and deleting files. In addition, you can configure certain graphics files settings by using the Preferences option. The available commands differ depending on the file type. Many commands are also available using the context menus.

Menu Options

Functional Description

Undo

Displays a list of the last 3D Editor actions performed on the current file, up to a maximum of 10. After you perform an Undo action, the next action is displayed.

Redo

Displays a list of the last Undo actions performed on the current file, up to a maximum of 10. After you perform a Redo action, the next action is displayed.

Cut

Removes the selected file from the File list and places it on the clipboard. You can then paste it to another location. Alternately it removes the selected folder and its contents and place them on the clipboard. You can then move it to another location.

Copy

Copies the selected items to the clipboard

Copy Image

Copies the current 2D image or rendered scene to the clipboard

Copy Location

Copies the full path name of the current file to the clipboard so you can paste it into any text field

Paste

Inserts the files you have cut or copied into the selected location

Invert Selection

Selects files which are currently not selected and cancels files which are selected

Select None

Cancels the selection for all files in the current folder

Copy To

Copies the selected folder and/or files to another location

Move To

Moves the selected folder and/or files to another location

Select Objects

Opens the Select Objects window and is used to select objects by name, size, polygon count, and other features.

Note that you can access this window also from the Scene Components panel.

Rename

Used to rename the selected file

Preferences

Opens the Preferences window, and is used to establish various settings including color, 3D and 2D view, file, texture, render, and NURBS settings (see Preferences Window).
