Line Style Settings

Use

The Line Style settings are available when you add a note to the scene.

Using the Line Style section of the Drawing settings in the Tool Assistant, you can modify the default line style for drawing. Any changes you make to the settings are applied to all drawings of that style that are subsequently created.

Functional Description

Line Style from Current Scene

A style guide for the display of polylines.

Line Width

Sets the thickness of the line.

Units

Determines the way in which the line style is measured. Units are either measured in 2D or 3D.

  • 3D, Object Space: Measures the lines by using object units. The lines remain constant as the camera moves around, and you can see perspective on these lines.

  • 3D, World Space: Measures the lines by using world units. The lines remain constant as the camera moves around, and you can see perspective on these lines.

  • 2D, View Space: Measures the lines in units. Moving the camera does not alter the absolute length of the line. For example, if the dashes in a dashed line pattern are 20 pixels long on screen, they are always 20 pixels long.

  • 2D, Points: Measures the lines by using points

  • 2D, [current scene units]: Measures the lines by using the current measurement units set in the scene. Lines with this line style behave as other 2D lines, but their screen, paper, and illustration physical sizes are defined in scene units; for example, millimeters.

Halo

Draws polylines on top of a thicker solid line using the background color. As the line width changes, the halo scales accordingly. The halo value is a numeric value where 0.0 = no halo and 1.0 = white borders the same width as the line.

Color

Determines the color of the polylines.

Use Diffuse Color

If checked, diffuse color is used.

Open Arrow Head

Sets an open arrow head to a note with leader line or dimensions.

Dash Pattern

Denotes the appearance of the line. That is, whether it is a solid or dashed line. The default setting produces a solid line, or a comma-separated list of numbers produces a dashed line.

End Style

Determines the way in which the line ends display

  • Butt: The line ends butt up against each other

  • Round: The line ends are rounded

Leader Length

Sets a break in a note leader line (tail).

You can choose between straight or with a tail. If you set a tail on the leader line, you can manually set a length.

Point Size Scale

Adds a solid circle at the end of a leader line (Leader dot). A radius; 0 (the default) is no leader dot. A higher value controls the diameter of the leader dot.
